House Warming Gifts

While fruit baskets, candles and other housewarming gifts make for nice ideas, housewarming gifts are not limited to tangible presents. Here are three housewarming gifts ideas that serve as a memorable gesture or an act of thoughtfulness.

Massage  After a move or home re-location, a massage is a wonderful reward. While a massage is not the normal housewarming gift, it is the type of indulgence that the recipient will never forget. There are two ways to give a  massage as a housewarming gift: 1)Buy a gift card from a local spa. Massages can be purchased in increments of 30, 60 and 90-minute increments. At the mall or Whole Foods, massages are provided in $1 increments. 2) If the budget does not allow for a gift card, create your own gift card/ certificate for the recipient.

Another intangible but appreciated housewarming gift idea is to hire a maid service. Generally, when people move to a new home, much cleaning is necessary. From the cabinets, closets, windows bathrooms, kitchen and other areas of the home, hiring a maid service for half a day is a much welcomed housewarming gift. 

Cleaning / Maid services Maid services usually charge $35 an hour. Some services have a two to three hour minimum. This housewarming gift idea also works if the giver offers their services.

Gardening Instead of buying a plant, flower arrangement or fruit bouquet, offer to help plant botanicals around the home. Especially, if the person, who you are giving the housewarming gift has a brown thumb, offer your gardening assistance / support.

Finally, if you prefer to give a tangible housewarming gift, snap a photo of the façade of the recipient’s home, frame the photo.
